A Complete Step-by-Step Guide To Submitting To Bing Local

Participating in the Bing Local Listing Center, the local product offering from Bing, the newest major in the search industry, is downright simple. Of course, you’ll also want to make sure you’ve added your local business information to Google Local and Yahoo! Local too — it’s important to get listed with all 3 of the major search engines on their local platforms. But, back to Bing Local, it’s just going to take a few easy minutes to get your site listed. Here goes…

The Steps To Submitting Your Local Business To The Bing Local Listing Center:

  1. Begin by visiting the Bing Local Listing Center in your web browser.
  2. Select "Add new listing."
  3. Complete the required fields for your business listing. These fields include your business’s name, address, city, state, ZIP code, and phone number.
  4. Click "Check your listing."
  5. Depending on the status of your business and if it’s been previously listed, it might already be good to go — just follow the prompts to verify, update, and continue.
  6. Otherwise, if your business wasn’t found, complete the verification field and click "Continue."
  7. You’ll need to log in with your Windows Live ID if you have one or sign up for an ID if you don’t have one yet.
  8. Once you’re logged in, you’ll be asked to provide a range of details about your local business. Starting with your contact information (which won’t actually be shown on your listing), begin filling in the relevant details.
  9. Add additional phone numbers if you so choose.
  10. Be sure to add your web address!
  11. If you’d like to share email contact addresses, you’ll be able to do this here as well.
  12. If you operate a public storefront (or if you’d just like to share your working hours anyway), go ahead and complete your business hours of operation. Not required, but helpful to customers in many cases.
  13. Also complete the methods of payment accepted if you’d like to share this information publicly with potential customers.
  14. Next, you can add up to 10 photos to your listing. A photo of your storefront at minimum is usually helpful. One thing to remember as you add photos is to keep it professional — these will be displayed as part of your online business listing.
  15. Complete the additional information if so desired. This includes your year of establishment, your business tagline, description, brands you carry, your specialties, professional affiliations, and more.
  16. Once you’ve completed and reviewed the information above, click "Next."
  17. On the next screen, you’ll be able to add up to six categories for your business. Complete these and click "Next."
  18. The next step is to verify the location of your business on the map provided. Click "Next."
  19. Finally, you’ll need to review the terms and click "I Accept" to complete your Bing Local Listing Center submission.
  20. You’re all done!

Completing the submission steps above should take about 10-15 minutes or so, and as with all local business submissions to the major search engines… it’s worth every minute. So why not take a few minutes and get your local business listed with Bing today?

Until Next Time.
