5 Popular Web Apps That You Can Benefit From Today

Apps are all the rage.  You’ve got them on your phone, and you’ve got them on your tablet device.  App development has even caused a whole shift in design—these days it’s incredibly popular to consider yourself a UI designer, which stands for user interface, and really only started to come about with the rise in popularity of apps.

It’s easy to think of the apps we download onto our mobile devices as being fun, or even handy, but when it comes to true business functionality, most business is still done on real computers, not mobile devices.  So with this in mind, let’s take a look at 5 popular web apps that you and your team can benefit from today:

1.  Google Apps (http://www.google.com/apps/)

This might just be the granddaddy of them all.  Entire Fortune 500 companies are switching over their document creation, spreadsheet, productivity, and email software to Google Apps.  Why?  Well first of all, it’s affordable (in fact, even their free version is very robust).  Secondly, it allows web access and team collaboration.  Create your document or presentation, save it to the cloud, and all the entire team to make edits and improvements—that’s what it’s all about.

2.  Photoshop.com (http://www.photoshop.com)

Need to make basic image edits every now and then, but don’t exactly need to spend several hundred dollars for the full version of Adobe Photoshop software?  No problem.  Just check out Photoshop.com to make basic edits and tweaks to your photos as needed—all right online and for free.  It’s that easy!

3.  Wufoo (http://wufoo.com)

If you’re looking for the perfect solution to create forms for your website, surveys, or anything else of this nature, then by all means, you need to check out Wufoo.  It makes it so easy.  Just point and click your way to the exact form you want (or use their provided design templates).  They’ll even host the form and provide you with the exact code you need to embed it on your site.  There is a free service level here that’ll be adequate for many—from there, it’s a paid subscription.

4.  MailChimp (http://mailchimp.com)

MailChimp is stealing all of the thunder lately when it comes to email newsletter and list management solutions.  Their site’s tagline, “Easy Email Newsletters” couldn’t be any more accurate.  You’ll love the clean design, ease of use for the entire system, and the fact that you can send a healthy dose of email newsletters to your subscribers each month for free.  You’ll really like this one.

5.  Google Analytics (http://www.google.com/analytics/)

So many sites use Google Analytics to provide visitor traffic and metrics information that it’ll almost make your head spin.  Why is it so great?  Well, first of all, the amount of information it can provide you with is truly astounding—in fact, for most, the level of detail is too much and even overwhelming.  No worries, you can just keep an eye on the top metrics for your site like Site Visitors and the sources of traffic coming to your website…the basics are all right on the first page “Dashboard” of the interface.  Oh, and it’s free.  Hard to argue with that, right?

Until Next Time.
